Officially a Writer!

This is a celebratory post as I have handed in my notice to 'the day job' so I can fully concentrate on the business! I am very excited and have been enjoying getting back into writing. It is the best feeling to be make a living from doing the thing you love most in the world!

The calm of the job, and the quiet have been heavenly!

I went for a toilet break today after being 'at work' for an hour, and came back overjoyed at having realised I'd made twice the money in that hour than I would have doing an hour at 'the day job'.

It was also lovely to return from my toilet break looking forward to the work that lay ahead, rather than lingering in the ladies reluctant to go back.

I now have a designated office area in my flat, and when my next payment comes through I will be going shopping for some supplies. (I can't wait. Stationery has always been a weakness.)

Breaking free from 'the day job' has allowed me to give serious time to the business and, more importantly, take myself seriously as a writer. I'm now proud to call myself Lauren Cooper - freelance copywriter!

New Project! :) :)

I am thrilled today because I have a new project to work one and it's something completely different to what I've done before. I'm starting to work on blogs for Podio/chillisauce, writing on a range of topics, this week's are fashion and beauty related. Blogging is a phenomenon that fascinates me and is an area of writing I have been very eager to get in to, so I am hugely grateful for this opportunity. I love the informal, comical, friendly tone that comes with blogging about fun things, and to add the cherry to my blogging pie, this week I get to talk about fashion! yayyy. I love my fashion and I think it is something I would have loved to have gone into if writing wasn't my calling in life. One of the posts I have to produce is about budget clothing, i.e charity shops, personalising etc. This is me all over!
I can't wait to get home from 'the day job' tomorrow and get cracking with them.

I am so happy to be back in the writing game. It's like coming home after a long, awful holiday where it rained for 3 weeks and you forgot to pack warm clothes..

The Joys of a Forgotton Password

Long time no speak! This is partly due to forgetting my password for my blog account and partly due to how busy I have been.

Unfortunately, my freelance writing has taken a back seat these last few monthsm as the winds of day-to-day life swept me up. The 'day job' has stolen most of my time, and trying to get all my degree work done in between shifts and sleep has been tough.

But the last couple of months has seen a change in management at my 'day job' and a consequent decrease in the amount of hours I have been working. I took this as an opportunity to take some time to myself and really get stuck into my degree (which I have been loving!).

However, the best advantage (to outweigh the several disadvantages) of losing shifts has got to be the progress I have made with my creative work. I've had too many ideas to handle at some points and my creative writing has finally had the T.L.C it deserves.

As much as I have been enjoying working on my degree, extra cirricular projects and my creative writing, I have thoroughly missed my freelance work..so as from now..laurencooperfreelance is back in business! :)
